An overview that was given of the speaker before his talk
Ray will probably talk for 15-20 minutes about his understanding of and vision for the USA, and how we as the US Community can respond to it. He has made a number of visits to North America and dialogued with Native American Christians. In their way of faith, he sees an important template for growing a Way that is authentic to this country.
Ray Simpson is much loved as our Founding Guardian, having served as UK Guardian from the start of the Community in 1994 until 2011. He is the author of numerous books, and still maintains a very active schedule in his 80s. We will have plenty of time to ask questions and share with him. The meeting will last somewhere between 60 and 90 minutes.
The Community had a wonderful visit via Zoom by the Founding Guardian of the Community of Aidan and Hilda-UK. Ray Simpson on 1st October 2022.
Ray Simpson was touching on one of his latest books Brendan’s Return Voyage – New American Dream.
I have read the first couple of chapters of this book and found it eye-opening.
“God is giving us the vision of a spoiled creation being restored to harmony with its Creator, of a fragmented world becoming whole, or a weakened church being restored to its mission, of lands being healed and lit up by the glorious Trinity.
Some of these new Brendans band together in the dispersed international Community of Aidan and Hilda. Its first US Guardian, Revd. Jack Stapleton, was drawn to the community’s commitment to ‘healing of the land.’ Stapleton wrote:
The reason why we study the Celtic Saints is that they were the Acts of the Apostles Volume II.
These are only the first pages and there is enough to ponder and reflect on toward a new way of life.
There was a posture that resonated with a number of people in the group of being in a place of watching and waiting-listening for the guide. Where is the Spirit working? To be looking for the evidence of the Holy Spirit.
There will be other Saturday meetings in the future. That I have no doubt will be good and need to be written in your calendar.
